Day 6 – Monday 17th – I don’t like Mondays

Note to self – don’t take a cup of coffee and Lamar back to bed with you. Bloody cat kept trying to drink it – pain in my butt.

She is the one that likes to cuddle more than the others- although funny they have to be in contact with either each other or someone when they sleep. They completely wrecked a ponytail plant and are eyeing up my other plants.

Dog still in kennel :)

It is still like watch the WWF – I didn’t realise that cats wrestle as much as this. Funny though. Possum has the advantage since she is bigger than the other two…although MoMo makes up with feistiness.
They still haven’t been outside and not quite sure when i will tackle that – i can just see them heading in three different directions- might be one at a time on some kind of lead….dunno!

I wuv you

Day 5 – Sunday 16th July – Fight Club

The cats are locked out of the bedroom area at night (so some sleep can be had by us furless lot) but you can be assured as soon as the hall doors open they come for a nosey.

Dog was in the kennel…….yayayayayayay

Lamar is a peculiar cat and super curious, she was on the bed with me trying to put her nose up my nose…..why?….I have no idea. She has the softest fur out of the three.  Possy is the biggest and probably the prettiest with her amazing colouring and MoMo is the cutest and smallest.  Hard to work out who is the biggest bully but Possy is normally duking it out with one of them.

Kennedy, Mason and Reilly had all had the night away and their day consists of coming in asking where the cats are, eating, playing with cats, lying down with cats, taking photos of cats, playing with cats again, eating.  Time wasters that’s for sure.

Saturday 15th July – Here comes the sun

The kittens were really enjoying the sun this morning.  Such a nice change from all the shite weather we have been getting.

Think I am going to be going thru a fair bit of kitty litter.  Three cats can sure use the ladies room alot!!

Dog still not in kennel.

Have moved their stuff up to the playroom which is the sunniest room in the house.  They are kinda like bi polar – they are either full on racing around, fighting and finding mischief or sleeping- doesn’t seem to be too much in between stuff.

Possum was watching Miley thru the window and didn’t seem to be too bother about it.   They are very unsure about the robo (vacuum).  Still haven’t been outside yet but very interested in the mud on my boots!

Gave the dog a bath so she had some more attention, although with her love of water it was not easy when she was trying to eat the water.

Water for eating not bathing

Day three – Home Alone (Friday 14th July)

As expected – got up to find the cats in the lounge and Kennedys door firmly closed! lol. On waking she said it was mainly Lamar trying to bite her necklace and jump over her head.

argh sharp claws Possy

Dog not in Kennel…………

Had some errands to run today and didn’t want to drag the kittens back out so left them to their own devices.  We seem to spend alot of time trying to find them around the house.  They haven’t got a favourite sleeping place yet so can be anywhere, so have search parties heading in every direction of the house.

After being at home for 5 hours on their own, i wasn’t sure what we would come home to but luckily there were no messes or damage.  I had picked up some Lysine since Flumax was so expensive and has yet to be proven to work.  Good thing about Lysine is I can use it too to make me look younger! lol

They are really starting to play fight alot and it is great to see the kids put down their devices and interact with the kittens instead.  Nice change – that’s for sure.   The entertainment value is high – can’t concentrate on a movie coz you are always looking to see what they are up to.

Day two – Off to the vets and to meet nana and Grandad

Amazing that little things weighing just over a kilo can make so much noise and they race around the house.

Lamar’s eye has almost closed up and had been sneezing so after talking to Julie, I made an appointment for all the kittens at Dairy Flat Vets for the afternoon.

I had some work to do so we packed up the cats and all their needs and headed down to Nana and Grandads for them to meet them and the kids to spend the afternoon so I could get some work done.

They certainly got two more fans from the grandparents, who got tired just watching them play.

Off to the vets and had their first antibiotic shots and Lamars eye got the all clear for no ulcer.  Now on the hunt for some flumax to reduce the symtoms of cat flu.

Back home to settle in for another night of crazyiness.   Their personalities really coming out.  Vet suggested they have their own area of feeding and not just one bowl for them to share, so that is a new challenge for us.

Feeling pretty sorry for poor old Miley – I got Kennedy to pick up a kennel for her to keep her warm and make her feel abit special…….which she won’t go in unless I tell her too or bribe her.  That was a waste of $150!

Miley aka Misery guts in her new kennel she hates! lol

Kennedy insisted on having the kittens in her room for the night – even after the debacle from the night before – bets were in to see how long she would last!

The Beginning…..

17 years ago we decided to adopt a rescue kitten for our 2 yr old daughter Kennedy and contacted Velma who was running the SPCA cat rescue in Warkworth.  A little black kitten was chosen and called Meow (about the only cat name a two year old knew – lol).  About 8 years later our other daughter Reilly, renamed her to Mush Mush and claimed her as her own.  Sadly we lost Mush Mush last week peacefully at 17 years old.

RIP Mush Mush

After a week of missing having a feline friend, we got in touch with Julie at Julies Animal Refuge (https://www.facebook.com/JuliesAnimalRefuge/) who had worked with Velma and taken on the responsibilities when Velma passed and Reilly, Regan and I drove up to Warkworth to meet some prospective pets.

Mo Mo

There were four young kittens for us to choose from, although one gorgeous wee grey tabby was just not quite up to adoption readiness.  I had my heart set on the little black torty who had been carsick and feeling abit under the weather, Reilly was taken with the very cute tabby that had the markings of a possum and this hard case little grey and white kitty put on a real performance and won the heart of Regan.  I was adamant we would only take two, so after three hours of deliberation and indecision – we adopted all three.

Possum (Possy) and Lamar

Off they were bundled into the cage and after a quick stop to buy some kitten food and supplies we headed home going thru possible names for the little bundles of joy.

On arrival it was “meet the German Shepherd”  – Miley -time which didn’t go particularly well with alot of hissing and nerves from the cats and a WTF – is this a three course meal from the dog.

As the rest of the family all arrived home with lots of oohs and aahs and “OMG -there are three” it was all about the kittens getting to know there new digs.

Kennedy and Lamar

Reilly and Regan wanted them to sleep in Reillys room so Regan moved in a mattress and with food, water and litter box they were locked in for the night……..yeah right!

Around 2am I hear some commotion so got up to check and the kids had had no sleep and now suggested it better that the kittens go back down to the lounge to run rampant away from them.  No matter how cute kittens are ….kids need their sleep!!
